Disney+
Program the way you like it

Challenge

Streaming gives us total control, which is amazing. But sometimes that freedom makes it harder to decide. What if Disney+ brought back that effortless, nostalgic feeling of cable? A feature where I can either build my own playlist of favorite movies and episodes, or turn on a “Disney Channel mode” that plays the shows and films I love in a fun, shuffled lineup: no endless scrolling, just press play and enjoy.

Approach

The main goal of this concept is a feature where you can create a playlist, name it, and add titles. The main screen, “Timeline,” lets you manage the list, rearrange titles, and switch views. Each card adjusts in size based on the title's length, so you can easily see how long your playlist will be.

Since Disney+ already has an amazing UI, I recreated the same components they use in their design system. The screens I designed follow a simple user flow to create TV show/movie playlists. I also used the movie Luca as an example to demonstrate adding a movie to your playlist.

After you input the name of your playlist, you’re taken to the timeline screen where all your titles will appear. Each timeline block is divided into 30-minute segments, and each card represents the duration of a title. I also designed a few simple icons to help illustrate each component on the page.
I really like this simple approach because the main actions on these pages are adding, moving, and removing titles from your playlist, keeping everything clean and intuitive.
