Awari

The best e-Learning experience on the market

During the 2020-2021 pandemic, Awari grew 500%, and with that growth the Latin-American company saw a shift to a subscription-centered experience and cohort-based courses.

The old platform became outdated and I was tasked with rethinking it from scratch.

Solution

The old platform was hardly ever accessed by students and was not made available to mentors

By centering all activities in the platform - mentorship scheduling, access to live classes, job listings and more -, Awari is now able to create a better experience for both students and mentors

The old platform felt bland and not interesting

For the new platform, we used a new and improved color palette to have primary and complementary colors and many components were created to make the new platform more appealing.

The old platform only offered access to one course and students needed to provide a new email if they enrolled in new courses

Students now have a single profile and can quickly and easily enroll in multiple courses with their subscription

Awari grew 500% during the pandemic and the customer success team could no longer conduct onboarding calls with every student

The onboarding process is now centered in the main dashboard with five easy steps

Visual language

For the new visuals, I used a color palette that was simple but effective. I also expended it a little more to get a greater variation of components and icons.

We decided to use Aeonik as the only font for everything, mimicking the website, and play around with the weights when something needs to be used as a title, paragraph, or tag.

Home

The homepage now offers quick access to the most important elements of the student experience, including classes and mentorship sessions happening now at the top of the page, classes from different courses and cohorts that students can freely join, future scheduled mentorship sessions, and a horizontal scroll of the most popular courses.

For new students, this page is also where they’ll find the new Onboarding experience, which I mapped out to be as intuitive as possible.

Scheduling a mentorship session

Students no longer depend on the customer success team to schedule calls with mentors, and can now browse them by name, skill-set or company name, and even filter by availability period.

Course Dashboards

Course dashboards include a complete calendar so students can stay on top of their events and deadlines, past class recordings and access to new and reformed course content, and an easy way to submit homework for your instructor to review

Editing Your Profile

Student and Mentor profile needs vary slightly.

Mentors need to include their skills, current position and company, as well as a small bio in order for students to schedule calls with them.

Student profiles, on the other hand, can be seen by mentors and course instructors, which helps the professionals guide them towards their career goals.

Making a Payment

Signing up for an Awari membership is now done through the platform, with multiple payment methods including PIX (an instant payment system from the Central Bank of Brazil) or the use of up to two separate credit cards.

Dark Mode

A dark mode version of the platform was made in paralel in order to accommodate for all needs and preferences

Mobile Version

Awari also wanted their students to be able to access classes, content and mentorship sessions anytime, anywhere. The mobile version of the platform was carefully thought out and will eventually be turned into an app.
